The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the final results of the NEET PG Round 1 counselling for the 2026 academic year on its official website. A total of 28,723 candidates have been declared qualified in the counselling process. These candidates are allotted seats under the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) for MD, MS, and DNB admissions.
Seat Allotment Details
The seat allotment covers the 50% AIQ seats across various medical colleges in India. Candidates who have secured a seat in this round can proceed with the admission process as per the prescribed schedule. The MCC has also released a detailed information bulletin outlining the eligibility criteria and documentation required for admission.
Applicants are advised to check their allotment status on the official MCC portal and complete the necessary formalities within the stipulated timeframe. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued an advisory providing instructions for reporting and joining the allotted seats to ensure a smooth transition for candidates.
Reporting and Joining Guidelines
The MCC has outlined specific procedures for updating the reporting/joining status on the Intra-MCC portal. Hospitals assigned to candidates must update their status within the prescribed timeline. Failure to do so will result in the seat being treated as vacant and moved to the next round of counselling.
All NBEMS-accredited hospitals are required to verify original documents at the time of joining. The institutions must ensure that candidates meet the eligibility criteria for their respective categories, including reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and EWS. Category certificates must be valid and as per the guidelines specified in the information bulletin.
The responsibility lies with the hospital to confirm that the trainee fulfills all prescribed eligibility requirements before permitting them to join the NBEMS course. Any instance of knowingly or negligently approving false or deficient records will lead to action under NBEMS rules, including a monetary penalty of ₹1,00,000 per candidate.
Course Fee Payment Process
Due to changes in the counselling process, the first-year annual course fee for NBEMS seats will no longer be collected during the counselling stage. Candidates allotted a seat by NBEMS who intend to join must pay the fee directly to the allotted hospital after exercising the FREEZE option.
Those who wish to participate in subsequent rounds for seat upgradation are not required to pay the first-year fee immediately. They must settle the fee once they finalize their seat choice by freezing it in a later round. Hospitals are instructed not to collect the fee from candidates who opt for the FLOAT option during the counselling process.
The reporting/joining status must be accurately updated on the Intra-MCC portal to avoid seat cancellation. Institutions are also advised to review their seat positions before each round to prevent over-allotment. Strict adherence to MCC-prescribed timelines is mandatory for all participating hospitals.
Guidelines for Floating Candidates
Candidates who have opted for upgradation from Round 1 to Round 2, or from Round 2 to Round 3, are termed as floating candidates. These applicants must strictly follow the MCC’s counselling process guidelines. NBEMS has clarified that it will not intervene in the counselling procedures conducted by the MCC.
