Flamingo Estate’s newest collection transforms the scent of fig trees into a summer ritual. The Sappho Fig line—a candle and exfoliating soap brick—is inspired by the Greek island of Lesbos, where poet Sappho once wrote about love and longing.
The collection skips the overly sweet notes of ripe figs. Instead, it captures the earthy, green aroma of the entire tree—leaves, stems, and bark. The result feels fresh and quietly sensual, like standing beneath a fig tree on a warm afternoon rather than opening a jar of jam.
The Candle That Evokes a Mediterranean Afternoon
The Sappho Fig Candle begins with the creamy, green scent of fig leaves, layered with ginger and cardamom for warmth. Sandalwood and musk add depth, creating a subtle, lingering fragrance. It opens with the green, creamy scent of fig leaf, followed by ginger and cardamom for warmth. Sandalwood, soft woods and musk give it a grounded finish. It smells less like a dessert and more like sitting beneath a fig tree on a warm afternoon, with the leaves moving overhead and the sea somewhere nearby.
Made in Los Angeles, the eight-ounce candle uses vegetable wax and a cotton wick, housed in recyclable glass. It appeals to those who prefer their home to smell like a sunlit grove, not a bakery.
Rather than relying on the usual mix of citrus and sea salt, Flamingo Estate leans into something greener, creamier and more unexpected.
A Soap Brick That Mimics Beach Sand
The Exfoliating Sappho Fig Soap Brick brings the same green fig scent to the shower. White poppy seeds and Big Sur sea salt provide a gently gritty texture, while kaolin clay cleanses without drying the skin. Olive and babassu oils ensure moisture, and the fragrance moves from fresh fig leaves and stems into cardamom, sandalwood and a soft hint of coconut.

The 12-ounce bar is large, making it ideal for summer skin—especially after sun exposure or swimming. The brand recommends lighting the candle before showering, allowing the scent to fill the room.
The set costs $98, or $110 in a gift box. Light the candle before getting into the shower, use the soap to exfoliate and you have a very simple way to make an ordinary evening feel slightly more like a summer holiday.
A Balsamic Vinegar That Feels Like a Rare Luxury
Flamingo Estate also introduced a Noir Fig Balsamic Vinegar, a small-batch product made with Trebbiano and Lambrusco grapes fermented with pressed organic Calabrian figs and aged in oak barrels. The balsamic is rich and tangy, with the natural sweetness of ripe figs and a subtle smoky depth from the wood.
The vinegar works well drizzled over tomatoes, grilled fruit, cheese or salads, or reduced into a thicker glaze. Priced at $62, it’s an indulgence, though the brand’s limited releases often sell out fast.
Together, the candle, soap and balsamic turn the fig into a complete summer mood, one you can light, lather with and pour over dinner.
The Sappho Fig line is available now, though the balsamic vinegar is especially scarce.
